✨Good Things Come In Pairs✨ – GMSH MPOX Vaccination Campaign
August 20, 2024
TORONTO, ON – Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance, a leader in sexual health promotion, is thrilled to announce the launch of an mpox vaccination campaign specifically tailored for gay, bi, and queer men. This campaign by The Public Studio features cheeky images of iconic object pairings as well as flirty snapshots of gay couples in a bar setting, reminding eligible folks that two doses of the mpox vaccine provides the best protection against transmission of the virus and severe symptoms in case of breakthrough infection.
The first case of Mpox (formerly monkeypox) was confirmed in Ontario in June 2022 during the global outbreak, and GMSH played a pivotal role in mobilizing the gay community, providing accurate information on up-to-date science as well as coordinating notifications on vaccine availability in different regions. The outbreak subsided by 2023, but the virus has re-emerged in Ontario at the beginning of 2024.
Many of the eligible population have still not received their first or second dose of the vaccine. This campaign is a reminder of the benefits of vaccination, that it is not too late to get your shot, and to be aware that the virus is circulating again.
