Proud Pricks: HCV Testing Campaign for Ontario

The GMSH and CATIE have partnered to create a vibrant hepatitis C (HCV) campaign for gay, bisexual, and men who have sex with men (gbMSM) in Ontario. We are proud to have worked with gbMSM at every stage of this campaign .

Help pass on information about HCV testing at ProudPrick.ca The website Proud Prick has details on where to get tested, why to get tested, and how to be treated and cured for HCV. This public campaign aims to combat stigma and inspire gbMSM to get tested. This campaign will help to slow and even eliminate hepatitis C in our community, a shared goal endorsed by the Canadian Government and the World Health Organization.

As identified in The Ontario Hepatitis C Elimination Roadmap, gbMSM are at increased risk of HCV transmission. Research shows that stigma about HCV is a significant barrier to testing within the gbMSM community. As a result, gbMSM aren’t encouraged to ask for testing, and frontline healthcare workers aren’t primed to recommend it. . Resources are available in French & English along with 20 digital images with captions (10 in English, 10 in French) of diverse images of gbMSM. Help us spread the message on HCV testing, treatment and cure.
