Gilles Charette

Gilles brings with him a fabulous blend of experience and passion. He spent almost twelve years at Trellis HIV & Community Care in Southeastern Ontario, where he began as the GMSH worker. Later, as Trellis’s Executive Director, he was at the helm of the organization’s most dazzling expansion yet, including co-founding Kingston’s Integrated Care Hub—a beacon of hope for the community’s most marginalized. Gilles knows this work inside and out—both the glittering successes and the really tough spots. Gilles’s connection to the HIV sector and the queer rights movement began in the mid-’90s while working at the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto during a time of dramatic change in the HIV crisis and a pivotal moment for 2SLGBTQ+ rights in Canada. He also has a background in corporate training, having designed onboarding and leadership programs with substance and style. Committed to equity and doing his part to build a kinder world, Gilles is all about celebrating and honoring lived experience. When he’s not championing these causes, you can find him handling a power tool and tackling a home improvement project in Prince Edward County, where he lives with his husband and their two gorgeous Doodles, Gracie and Stella.
