Discover the Impact: Mpox Awareness Campaign Evaluation Final Report
September 12, 2023
Toronto, 2023 – The Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance (GMSH) is pleased to announce the release of the final evaluation report for our Mpox outbreak response. This comprehensive evaluation is the culmination of many months of work to better understand the impacts of our efforts during the critical first several months of the 2022 outbreak.
Key highlights of the report include:
- visualization of the swift mobilization of key stakeholders within the first 6-8 weeks of the outbreak in Ontario
- responses of 19 agencies across five stakeholder groups who were active in the response
- findings of a survey of Ontario public health units
- findings of a public opinion poll to better understand awareness, attitudes, and actions of the community
The release of this final report underscores GMSH commitment to evidence-based approaches and transparency in our efforts to address the unique sexual health challenges faced by our community. We believe that the findings within the report will not only inform our future initiatives but also provide a roadmap for emergent public health issues in and outside the queer community.
“We are proud of the achievements of the Mpox outbreak response in Ontario and are grateful to our partners and supporters who made it possible,” said Dane Griffiths, Director of GMSH. “The rapid response of government, public health, community organizations, and gay men ourselves dramatically changed the course of the outbreak for the better.”
