August 1 Church Street Beach Day

The Church Street Beach day community event yesterday was a huge success with the weather holding out and giving us a gorgeous sunny day. The Gay Men's Sexual Health Alliance worked with the Church Wellesley BIA, Friends of Hanlans and the City of Toronto to bring in real grass sod, sandboxes, an inflatable pool and refreshments and transform the Church Street pedestrian area.

Blog: Reflections from the 2026 AIDS Candlelight Vigil

Yesterday, I attended the 42nd annual AIDS Candlelight Vigil at Barbara Hall Park in Toronto, to honour and commemorate those who have been lost to the AIDS epidemic. The vigil, which takes place on the Tuesday evening of Toronto Pride week, is organized by a committee of volunteers from AIDS service organizations and our communities. The 519 community centre serves as the trustee of the AIDS Memorial.
