10 Tips for Locktober 🔒

What's all the fuss about Locktober? Find out more with some expert advice!

It seems like everywhere you look right now you see guys in chastity cages! They’re taking part in Locktober, where you lock up your junk for all or some of the month. But are guys really doing it 24/7? Can you just try it out and see if you like it?

We talked to our pal and PhD kinkster Sluppy Le Pup to ask him what his Top 10 tips were for someone exploring chastity this month, and here’s what he said: “There’s no correct way to get into this kink, and Locktober is a fun way to participate with a community of other caged folks who are on the same journey at the same time.” Read on for Sluppy’s Top 10 tips!

1. Pick a cage that’s right for you. There are different sizes, designs and materials: steel, silicone, and acrylic. Ask a seasoned kinkster or an adult retail shop expert to help you out.

2. If you can, find someone who can hold one of your keys and encourage you. It’s easier to stay motivated – and it’s more engaging – when someone is checking in regularly.

3. Keep a spare key for safekeeping. You never know if / when you may need it.

4. If this is your first time, start with the cage on for a few hours at a time and increase your locked duration gradually.

5. It’s okay to just do it for a couple days and stop, or take breaks if you need to. If you’re not in the right mindset or *especially* if it hurts, you can try again another time.

6. Cleaning and hygiene is important. Some cages are easier to wash than others but in gengereal it’s a good idea to take it off to clean every couple of days. If you have a keyholder, you can make it into a fun activity to do together.

7. If you want to sleep with the cage on, it can take some time to get used to it, especially if it’s made of something firm or you often get hard while sleeping. But don’t lose sleep over the cage if it’s wrecking your ability to function during the day.

8. Have fun! Chastity and Locktober is all about exploring yourself and your desires. It’s a great exercise in reflecting on your relationship with your body, pleasure, self-care, frustration, patience and self-restraint.
