August 1 Church Street Beach Day

An event in Toronto’s gay Village to commemorate the first Gay Day picnic LGBTQ+ pride gathering at Hanlan’s Point on August 1, 1971

The Church Street Beach day community event yesterday was a huge success with the weather holding out and giving us a gorgeous sunny day. The Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance worked with the Church Wellesley BIA, Friends of Hanlans and the City of Toronto to bring in real grass sod, sandboxes, an inflatable pool and refreshments and transform the Church Street pedestrian area.

We set up and outreach booth alongside Women’s Health in Women’s Hands conducting community surveys and handing out health promotional items designed by @timpsingleton @grrrlspells and @chris_rouleau to promote our new campaign If No One Ever Told You, We Will!

And last but not least, we had Canada’s Drag Race star @jadashadahudson doing street interviews. If you look closely you’ll catch adult performer @showoffjonah who took the time to do a guest appearance later in our video 🤩
